Lady Tigers Finish Third in Turkey Athens 2004 By Pius Ayinor The national female basketball team, the Lady Tigers finished third after losing their last two games in the Ankara Tournament. After a superb run against Romania, Germany and New Zealand, the Nigerian Olympic team fell by 92- 82 to Lithuania and on the last day, 86-75 to hosts, Turkey. The Nigeria team managers said that the tournament has provided them a very good ground to test the preparedness of their team. "It was worth the trouble. Every team came in to prepare for a competition, so the challenge was good," assistant coach Scott Nnaji told THISDAYSports. The Turks took the first position after winning all five games. They beat respected Lithuanians to the second position. New Zealand, like Nigeria will feature in the Olympics but they are, however, in group B. The other teams are warming up for the European Championship.
