Food security will foster peace, productivity and stability and also improve the external value of the naira. Settlement of domestic debts will alleviate the prevailing poverty and enhance the purchasing power of the citizenry with its positive motivational and multiplier effect on the real sector of the economy. The ongoing reforms adopted by the Federal Government such as deregulation, monetisation and liberalisation are elitist in character and have only marginal and cosmetic impact on the depressed economy. These haphazard and peripheral economic strategies will certainly not get us out of the woods.
