I'll Hold Ministers Responsible for Failure, Says Obasanjo From Josephine Lohor in Badagry President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday declared that ministers and permanent secretaries would be personally held responsible for failure to deliver on the service of their respective ministries which would soon be released to the Nigerian public. In his address at the closing ceremony of the first retreat of permanent secretaries at the Administrative Staff College of Badagry, Obasanjo emphasised that there was no going back on reforms of Federal Government and "those that refused or find it impossible to support the process will just have to shift out." The president advised that "we must stop deceiving ourselves as a people. This is the time for truth, fairplay, equity and justice. We cannot continue to tolerate or subsidise failure with corruption and beaureautic arrogance. I am plain and undiplomatic because I do believe in your ability to work for real positive change and for the direction of our country. I believe that our people and God Almighty will not forgive us if we continue to squander opportunity to do good for our people." Obasanjo disclosed that "the Head of Service would have to query in writing any permanent secretaries who in the light of evidence fails to deliver any service outlined in the ministry service charter."
