'Stop FG from Paying Jigawa Council Funds' From Lillian Okenwa in Abuja Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked an Abuja Federal High Court to stop the Federal Government from paying local government allocations to the Government of Jigawa State. PDP accused the government of Jigawa of violating the provisions of the 1999 constitution and the Electoral Act 2002 in that it put in place a caretaker system of local government administration instead of democratically elected council regime. PDP also said that the All Nigerian Peoples Party led government in Jigawa State had created additional wards in total disregard to the constitution. This request was made by some people who claimed to be PDP candidates for council Chairmen in the state in a motion they filed before the court. The plaintiffs asked the court to declare as null and void the Jigawa State Local Government (Amendment) Law 2004 because some sections of the law ultra vires the constitution.
