Ogun Seeks Oil-Producing Status From Toba Suleiman in Abeokuta Ogun State government has pleaded with the Director of the Department of Petro-leum Resources, Mark Ofore to assist in actualising the process of joining the league of oil-producing states. Managing Director of Gate-way Oil and Gas, Prince Wemmy Osude made the appeal during a courtesy call on Ofore in Lagos. He said the company was registered in 2003 with interest in investing in the down stream sector at first, inorder to build strength before exploring other sectors as its activities bloosom. He explained that the company would build 20 mega stations, while activities had commenced on the first located at the trailer park in Ogere along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway. Osude appealed for licenses to be granted inorder to speed up its status as an oil producing state. In his contribution, Chairman House Committee on Energy, Oil and Gas, Hon. Ayo Odugbesan, said several motions had been passed calling on the Federal Government to conduct seismic surveys to determine which area in the country had hydrocarbon deposits. He said that several mails and data had been received from investors interested in exploration in Ogun hence the need to expedite action. Special Adviser on Solid Minerals, Oil and Gas, to the governor, Olufemi Tetede expressed gratitude to the director and management of the Department of Petroleum Resources for honouring the delegates and hoped for a lasting relationship. Reacting to requests made by the state, Ofore said approval would not take long as soon as necessary surveys and study had confirmed the availability of hydrocarbon and expressed willingness to assist the state in achieving its dream.
