Rivers State chapter of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and some partnership for government in have gone into partinership for effective dissemination of agencies government policies and programmes of governement especially at the grass roots.
Director of NOA in the state, Mr. Andy U. Nweye, who disclosed this in a chat with THISDAY weekend hinted that the main area of the collaborative effort was in the enlightenment of programmes of Parastatals or departments.
He observed that some government bureaux lack manpower or resources which affects their impact on rural communities.
For example the NOA Boss explained that though National Agency for Food, Drugs, Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is doing a fine job, it had been discovered that it was not really easy to penetrate the rural areas to effectively complete their work in the way they are doing at the State capitals of the federation.
Nweye who was appointed the State Director of NOA about eight months ago said the outcome of the collaboration has been very wonderful and rewarding as most of the pure water factories are located at the rural area while most of the fake drugs which could no longer been seen in the cities have now been shifted to the rural villages and markets.
His Agency, he further said is also working with the State Ministry of health in the dissemination of information and creating awareness on the National Programme of Immunization (NPI) and HIV/AIDS; as well as working with the State Ministry of Youths Affairs in the area of addressing the issue of cultism and other social vices amongst the youths in the state.
"We are also working ahead of the censor period and deeply involved in the monitoring of the activity of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FEMA) in the state", the NOA Director said.
According to him, the Agency has been able to achieved a lot at the grass root level using the age grade, clubs, village square and church meetings; commending the state governor for donating two buses and motor-cycles to the agency to facilitate movement and its assignment
