Change your attitude to work, Obasanjo tells civil servants By Tokunbo Oloruntola, News Editor   President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday said the Federal Government would not back down on its ongoing reform agenda in the civil service. Addressing a retreat for federal permanent secretaries at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) at Topo, Badagry, near Lagos, Obasanjo charged civil servants to change their attitude and orientation to serving the people. Daily Independent had reported exclusively Friday that the Head of Service of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, was meeting with federal permanent secretaries to discuss issues affecting civil servants, including the planned purge. The president said the proposed service charter, that would stipulate the minimum service expected from the public service would soon be released to the public. Obasanjo attended the conference after arriving Lagos from a three-day official visit to Akwa Ibom State that ended on Sunday. Addressing the retreat at the weekend, Ahmed warned that the running of government would no longer be “business as usual.”       Copyright� 2002.
