FG to immortalise two ex-CBN govs, Effiong By Uduak Iniodu, Special Correspondent, Uyo   The Federal Government has promised to immortalise two former governors of the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN). President Olusegun Obasanjo gave the pledge at a dinner organised in his honour to round off his three-day working visit to Akwa Ibom State. The president who was responding to Governor Victor Attah’s request and the Traditional Rulers Council (TRC) that the first Indigenous CBN governor, Dr. Clement Isong, should be given a place in the nation’s Hall of Fame, did not however, specify what form the honour would take.  President Obasanjo also said the Federal Government would do something that would permanently remember the role played by the late General Philip Effiong to end the 30 months old Nigeria civil war. Odimegwu Ojukwu who led the rebellion against the Federal Government could be pardoned unconditionally, there was no reason why Effiong should not be honoured for the role he played towards the end of the war, which, according to him, had   saved innocent lives. He recalled that full entitlements of the late war hero had been restored before he died. The president, who felt relaxed in the company of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Obong Ufot Ekaette, Works and Housing Minister, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Water Resources Minister, Alhaji Muktar Shagari and the Minister for Woman Affairs, Mrs. Rita Akpan, thanked the people of Akwa Ibom for the warm reception accorded him during the visit.         Copyright� 2002.
