Okocha, Kanu insist on Chukwu for Eagles By Ben Alaiya Group Sports Editor in London   Super Eagles skipper, Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha and his deputy, Nwankwo Kanu are among the top players who are insisting that Coach Christian Chukwu must not be relieved of his job even when the new manager takes over later in the month. Daily Independent gathered from sources at the NFA that the two players practically forced the NFA board and the secretariat to endorse Chukwu's continued retention and warned that the new manager must not do away with the former national team captain. "We were actually scared of sabotage and some people felt that if the new man is left alone, the players may not co-operate hence the need to keep Chukwu for now and look for younger coaches who will also work with the new manager", a highly placed source at the NFA hinted Daily Independent. The NFA is meanwhile working on a plan to throw up young coaches like Samson Siasia, who will from time to time understudy the new manager and ensure that they take over when he leaves at the end of his contract which should be after the Germany 2006 World Cup. The new manager is however expected to be signed on for an initial period of one year and is expected to be unveiled this week in Abuja by Sports and Social Development Minister, Musa Mohammed.       Copyright� 2002.
