Expert explains real estate programme on NTA network

The principal partner of M.I.Okoro and Associates, a firm of estate surveyors and valuers, Mr. Meckson Innocent Okoro, has said that the need to bridge the information gap in the housing and real estate industry in Nigeria, informed the airing of the Real estate segment of A.M.Express on NTA network

He explained this at the first anniversary of Real Estate segment on NTA (Network) held at the Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island.

According to him, some of the aims and objectives of the programme include, to articulate professionally, the best and most simple means of assisting governments at all levels, corporate bodies and individuals to realise their real estate/housing needs by properly empowering them with adequate information on real estate matter.

Besides, the programme also aims at solving problems associated with collapse of buildings in Nigeria cities, he said. He explained that the segment was a watchdog on the activities in the construction industry in Nigeria.

Okoro, who also doubles as the National Publicity Sectary of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), pointed out that ‘‘it is a one-stop focus for all operators and professionals in the building cum construction industry.’’ He added, that the programme would explain to the public, the good intentions of the of the National Housing Policy (NHP) of the Federal Government of Nigeria with the sole aim of mobilizing interest and support to the policy from the general public.

He said that the Real estate segment would also aim at sensitising the public on the need to take advantage of certain positive reforms going on in the housing sector thereby encouraging them to invest in Real Estate in Nigeria.

Okoro said ‘‘in order to achieve these laudable objectives, NIESV, NTA, Obasnjo collective, IOD Nigeria and M.I. Okoro and associates pulled resources together, to mark the first year anniversary of the segment and in the process, feature this all-important seminar.’’ He said: ‘‘It is very pertinent to remind us about the important position housing occupies in the life of man and that is why every policy made in this sector must be objectively pursued to its logical conclusion, at least, to assist human beings achieve healthy living and environment.
