46 Firms Plan Industrial Parks From Cletus Akwaya in Abuja Forty-six companies have expressed interest to construct the six industrial parks being developed in the six geo-political zones of the country by the Small Scale Enterprises Development agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN). The parks to be cited one each in the six zones are part of the initiative by SMEDAN to support the emergence of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) across the country. The expressions of interest were opened yesterday in Abuja by officials of SMEDAN. In the same exercise, five applications were received from companies seeking to supply operational vehicles for the agency while six firms indicated interest to develop SMEDAN's website. Director General of SMEDAN, Chief (Mrs.) Dupe Adelaja who presided over the bid opening said the agency was determined to handle the procurement with the highest level of transparency in line with the due process guidelines of the Federal Government. She assured the companies of a level playing field to compete in any of the three services for which contracts will soon be awarded. Adelaja said the expressions of interest received will be appraised and the pre-qualified companies released in two weeks to enable them tender for the various jobs.
