Porbeni, Uwuchie for Niger Delta Awards Former Minister of Transport, Admiral Festus Porbeni (rtd) and Amba-ssador Ralph Uwuchie, Special Adviser to the President on African Envoys, have been nominated for the second edition of the prestigious Niger Delta Merit Award. The annual event provides a platform for all stakeholders in the Niger Delta region, opportunity to rub minds on the current socio-economic problems militating against growth and development in the region, and proffer solutions. According to a Press Release signed by Dr Onwurah, chairman Board of Directors of Africa International News-paper's, the theme of this year's lecture: "Niger Delta: Pathway would Sustainable Peace and Development in Nigeria", to be delivered by a technocrat and management consultant, Dr Steve Manhowu and Chief Brisibe Nabena, Managing Director of Bristecom Engin-eering Company Limited. The event, which holds in PortHarcourt on August 26, would be chaired by Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), while the state Governor Peter Odili, will be the chief host.
