Group Alleges Igbo Marginalisation By Olawale Olaleye The subsisting ban slammed on Slok Airlines owned by the Abia State Governor, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu smacks of political vendetta, a non governmental organisation, Igbo Question Movement, has said. Leader of the group, Mr. Ben Onyechere, who said this maintained that if the timing was anything to go by, it was clear that the action was taken as a result of political vendetta which he claimed was unhealthy for "Nigeria's democracy". Onyechere however said Vice President Atiku Abubakar would be doing a great disservice to the Igbo people he claims to be friends with if he could not use his office to get things right for the airline, else it would also mean it was done in continuation of Igbo marginalisation. He argued that the vice president is considered a close ally of the Abia State governor, adding that if his friend could be going through such hardship in the hands of a government he is in, then it would mean the friendship has no strong political base. "Unfortunately, the so-called Igbo elite are rather fueling the imbroglio. This is why I think Atiku is a big disappointment to the Igbo if he can not help us with the slok airline matter, what will he come to tell us when he wants us to vote for him, apart from the role he played in denying Ekwueme the presidency", he stated. "It was quite unnecessary both politically and otherwise. It is therefore in the interest of government not to label itself with bad image. We know they have very scanty regard for the press and public views, but we will not rest on our oars as we are bent on going the whole hog to curtail the federal government excesses. "The ordeal gone through in the hands of Obasanjo and Anenih is a replication of marginalization against Igbo. The main reason Kalu is being vilified is because he speaks for the Igbo when it matters most . "It is expected that no Igbo man in power should talk against Obasanjo and Anenih. The same fate Ekwueme is suffering after founding PDP is what is going through now. The slam on slok airline is a typical example of what they are suffering in this country and because he is aware of the conspiracy, he is singled out for punishment".
