CIBN Examines Debt Recovery Strategies

As part of its commitment towards complementing the effort of the regulatory authorities in reducing the high incidence of bad debt in the nation's banking system, the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria has concluded arrangements to organise a workshop with a view to significantly improving credit administration and debt recovery strategies of banks and other financial institutions.
The workshop, according to a statement from the Institute is scheduled to hold at the Sheraton Lagos and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos from 11-13 August, 2004 at 9.00 a.m.
The event with the theme: "Advanced Credit Administration and Debt Recovery Strategies" is designed to provide a forum for top banking operators, area/zonal/regional managers, branch managers, credit analysts, supervision of banks and other financial institutions, legal officers, accountants, investment banking executives and staff of organisations who are into credit administration and debt recovery.
The Institute has assembled eminent Nigerians who are experts from the judicial and financial sectors of the economy to address the participants at the workshop.
Among the dignitaries expected at the event include
Mr. G. A. Ajibade, Deputy General Manager, Credit Policy and Control, Union Bank of Nigeria PLC, Mr. Patrick Duru, Assistant General Manager, Oceanic Bank International Limited, Mr. Jude Ememe, Consultant, Mr. Moses Olaniyi, Senior Manager, Credit and Marketing, Regent Bank Limited, Chief N. A. Folarin, SAN, National Treasurer, CIBN among others.
Participants will critically analyse some topical issues in modern Credit administration and Debt Recovery such as "Ethical Issues in Credit Administration and Debt Recovery Functions; Strategies for Bad Loan Recovery; Statutory And Regulatory Issues in Credit Administration And Debt Recovery Activities in Financial Institutions" and a host other challenging topics.
Mr. Esan Ogunleye, Registrar/ Chief Executive, CIBN would be the chief host while Mr. Samuel E. Kolawole, President/ Chairman of Council would be the Chairman of the occasion.
