PDP
should call Governor Fayose to order
I wish to express my views on the embarrassing and
unconstitutional happenings in Ekiti State since the inception of Governor
Fayose Administration.
I wonder why a young Governor, like Ayo Fayose, is
politically blindfolded, intoxicated with power and therefore thinks he can do
and undo unconstitutional things.
Governor Fayose, who was voted for, massively by the people of Ekiti has
now turned around to chastise them.
I am surprised that he no longer respects elders, democratic principles
and the Constitution.
Recently, he instructed elected Chairmen and
Councillors to take permission from his office before holding any meeting. He sent out Mr. Taye Fasuba, Chairman,
Ado Local Governor Council from a meeting because the Chairman wanted to know
why, certain percentage of his council’s money is being deducted from
Ekiti State allocation. He lobbied
the Ekiti State House of Assembly to impeach Mr. Sola Ajigbolamu as the Speaker
of the House. This was because the former speaker did not support a new local
government bill sent to the House by the Governor. The bill provides for the removal of any erring council
chairman and councillor without following the procedure stipulated in the 1999
constitution. But the excuse given
by the bought-over, ingrate lawmakers was that Mr. Sola Ajigbolamu was removed
for inefficiency, ineptitude and incapability. In fact, it is disheartening, unfortunate and regrettable
that the people of Ekiti voted for political scavengers, neo-feudalist,
mercenaries, who claim to be leaders.
Governor Fayose had instituted a probe panel to look
primarily into financial activities of the immediate past regime of Otunba
Adeniyi Adebayo. Has the Governor
forgotten that one day he will leave office and his administration too might be
probed? Perhaps he thinks he is a
saint. If soothsayers and
sorcerers have seen victory for him in 2007 guber election in Ekiti State, they
are only deceiving him. The Ekitis
voted for him in 2003 and they will pay him back in his own coin in 2007,
through the same ballot. Democracy
is a learning process but these students in power are wasting the school fees
we paid with our hopes and future.
Finally, I weep for Ekitis who voted for political
blunderism, and half-baked political leaders. Presently, many Ekitis are crying silently, especially those
who rigged in political disgrace.
It is high time the PDP at the national level called Governor Fayose to
order before he scatters Ekiti State.
What he needs now is elderly advice and education, particularly on
constitution and democratic behaviour.
Political coercion and political victimization will not help him.
