ABUJA — BARELY three months to the national convention of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), a crisis has hit the party, leading to suspension of the National Secretary, Mohammed Sani El-Katuzu. The announcement of the suspension was made at a press conference in Abuja after a two-day deliberation of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on the crisis.
It was learnt the national secretary was suspended over comments he made in the wake of the allegation that Presidency gave some money to his National Chairman to sway the party from further antagonizing the Presidency. His deputy, Dr Francis Egu has been appointed to replace him in the interim. National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Nnamdi Olebara said El-Katuzu would also face a five-man panel that will determine the next line of action on the accusation levelled against him. The panel is headed by the party's National Legal Adviser, Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd.)
He said: “NWC has thoroughly investigated the story of N300 million bribe allegation given to our National Chairman, Chief Don Etiebet by the Presidency to the ANPP as published by a news journal and found the story to be completely untrue, malicious, frivolous and sponsored by mischief makers.
