Automobile company donates material for women empowerment

An Automobile Company, Mitsu bishi Shoji Kaislia Company of Japan, has donated two traditional Sheds and a Kiln to the pottery cottage industry in Kwali area council operated by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.
Receiving the donation, the Minister of Women Affairs, Obong Rita Akpan said the company and Japa-nese people have further demonstrated their commit-ment to the economic emp-owerment of Nigerian women in line with the government’s policy on poverty alleviation and sustainable development.
The minister who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Mr. Olochi A. Edache said that sheds and kiln donated by the automobile company has further re-enforced the traditional Japanese partner-ship towards the development of Nigeria since the return to democratic governance in the country.
She assured the company that the shed and kiln would be put to proper use at the Kwali pottery cottage indus-try in order to boost the skills of the trainees.
In his brief remark, the chairman of Kwali area coun-cil, Mr. Samuel M. Gwamna, commended the Mitsubishi automobile company for the donation.
Gwamna appealed for the speedy commissioning of the pottery centre and its eventual handover to the Kwali area council for management as a source of revenue generation to the council.
While handing over the sheds and kiln to the ministry, the managing director of Mitsubishi Shoji Kaisha Nigeria Limited, Mr. Taka O. Fujino, disclosed that his company made the donation as part of its corporate responsibility to society and because of its desire to identi-fy with the ministry of women affairs in the ministry’s pursuit of socio-economic and political empowerment of Nigeria women.
