Nigeria Airways: Liquidators Get Police Protection From Lillian Okenwa in Abuja An Abuja Federal High Court yesterday ordered the Nigeria Police to the liquidators of Nigeria Airways Limited. The Court, in ordering the liquidation of the ailing national carrier on July 9, approved the appointment of Ade Babinton - Ashaye, as the liquidator and KPMG Nigeria Limited as the financial adviser in the process designed for the winding up of company Justice Stephen Jonah Adah made the order. In view of some problems encountered by the liquidators, they approached the Court again, asking for an order that they be given police protection so that they could take possession of the corporation. They said disengagement of staff of the airline since July 29, exposed the airline's property to serious insecurity. They also disclosed that on an occasion when they wanted to gain access to the premises, they were almost mobbed by workers who resisted and stopped them from taking over. It was the liquidator's opinion that the workers did that because they did not understand the terms of the liquidation, which said part of their salaries be paid.
