IBB Vision 2007 Storms Port Harcourt Rivers From Okon Bassey in Port Harcourt National Executive Committee and Trustees of IBB Vision 2007 recently stormed Rivers State in continuation of its nationwide campaign to solicit support for the former military President General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd) return as the President of the country in 2007. The team led by its national chairman, Alhaji Hameed Akama, was hosted by the Rivers State Patron of IBB Vision 2007, Mr. Alfred Yesin. Yesin, a frontline politician in the state, described the former military president as the epitome and melting pot of grassroot politics in Nigeria. According to him, during the period Babangida ruled the country, he exhibited a detribalised leadership style and painstakingly instituted people- oriented programmes. He obeserved that the decentralisation of government by his administrasion saw the creation of more states and local government in the country thereby bringing government closer to the people of grassroots. Among the numerous landable achievements of IBB while in office, Yesin said, include the enactment of policies and decisions which accorded respect and solidarity to human and environmental rights in Nigeria. Recalling the endorsement of the Ogboni Bill of Rights, the state patron of IBB Vision 2007, added that the former military president promptly responded to the yearnings of the oil rich minority states by increasing the derivation principle of revenue allocation from 1.5 per cent to 3 per cent. Yesin, who said IBB demostrated love and support for the South-south geopolitical zone, called on the people of the zone and entire federation to support the presidential ambition of IBB for 2007 project.
