The assurance was given by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Welfare and Culture, Alhaji Mohammed Dabarako, during his familiarisation visit to the institutions under the ministry.

Dabarako enjoined all the staff to bear with government at this point in time, stating that as soon as the economy improves, their requests would be granted.

Earlier in his address, the Officer-in-Charge of the Children Reception Centre, Mrs. Kolade, commended the state government in its efforts at reducing incidents of social menace in the state.

She disclosed to the permanent secretary that the number of abandoned children had increased tremendously in recent times, despite all efforts aimed at reducing the social menace.

At the Juvenile Remand Home, the Officer-in-Charge of the Area Social Welfare Officer, Ilorin, Mrs. Ruth Iyiola Bamigboye, intimated the permanent secretary with the problems facing her institution which include large number of inmates with inadequate staff and infrastructural facilities.

At Sabo Line Area Social Office, the Officer-in-Charge, Mrs. J. A Alabi, implored government to build a fence round the building for security purpose.

Responding, the permanent secretary disclosed that the fencing had already been taken care of in the year budget, promising to study the problem facing the area offices with a view to advising government in finding a lasting solution to them.

Other places visited are Amayo Rehabilitation Centre for the disabled persons and Olokun Psychiatric Home along Sobi Barrack.
