Kwara Dep. Gov Tasks Councils on Infotech From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin Kwara State Deputy Governor, Chief Afolabi Ogundeji has stressed the need for chairmen and treasurers of local government councils in the state to ensure the computerisation of their respective local governments accounts. The deputy governor at a recent workshop on the standardization and computerization of local government accounts for local government chiefs, directors and treasurers said the standardisation and computerisation of accounts is a new phenomenon that will bring sanity and probity into local government administration in the state. The deputy governor, while flagging off a five-day workshop organised by the Kwara State Joint Account and Allocation Committee admonished the participants to allow the workshop impact on their style of administration. Ogundeji, who expressed the belief that learning is a continuous process said the workshop would not only improve the professional performance of the participants but also educate them on new information technology. The deputy governor also advised the local government chairmen to ensure constant power supply in their respective domains as, according to him, "it is the only way to make the experience gathered during the workshop effective". In his address, the Chairman of the State Local Government Joint Account Allocation Committee, Alhaji AbdulFatai Ahmed, emphasized the need to embrace information and communication technology as a strategy to improving job efficiency and productivity. Ahmed, who laid emphasis on stewardship, said it was necessary to accept the use of information technology to ensure the objective.
