Council Tasked Staff on Performance From Toba Suleiman in Abeokuta The Sagamu Local Government area of Ogun State has organised a two-day workshop for its junior staff on levels 01-06 to enhance their productivity and efficiency. Chairman of the Council, Mr Daisi Akintan, while addressing over 200 participating staff during the workshop put together by a firm, Accounting, Education and Research Services (ACCERS) stressed the need to meet the challenges of the expected local government reforms. Underscoring the importance of training for junior staff of the council, Akintan said the workshop was to get the best out of the trainees in terms of productivity and prepared them for modern challenges. "If you are working with untrained staff, you cannot get the best from them, the workshop is not a jamboree," he said. According to him "the workshop is meant to boost their morale, efficiency, productivity and prepare them for modern challenges in local government administration. While addressing the participants at the end of the two-day workshop, the Council Chairman promised to make the workshop a yearly affair to get the best out of the staff. While speaking on the role of elected and appointed officials as decision-makers at local government level, Vice-Chairman, Orile Iganmu Local Government area of Lagos State, Sunday Johnson Afolabi said that quality decision could only be arrived at when there is a good focus and adequate timing of reaction through discerning ability. Earlier on, president of the firm, Mr. Sam Ekwueme told the trainees that regular in-house training was necessary for both public and private servants to keep abreast of new developments.
