Dunlop to Sponsor 15 Nigerians to Athens
In a rare display of corporate social responsibility and unalloyed commitment to customer loyalty reward, Dunlop Nigeria Plc, Nigeria's foremost tyre manufacturer, has concluded arrangements to sponsor fifteen Nigerians to witness the Athens Olympics.
The sponsorship is a comprehensive package which includes visa procurement, return ticket, hotel accommodation and feeding, as well as incidentals is in fulfillment of the company's promise through a recently concluded promo entitled 'Olympic Joy Ride.'
According to Andrew Ajuyah, Marketing Manager, Dunlop Plc, '...the Promo, a pan Nigeria event was held for the specific purpose of strengthening Nigeria's participation and representation in the mundiale by affording some Nigerians the rare opportunity to attend the event at no cost to them whatsoever.'
The Promo ran from February 23 - June 30, 2004 on a regional format of Lagos, East, West and North. The star prize was a trip to the Olympics for four couples each one of whom must emerge from only one of the above regions. Lower level prizes included power generating sets, deep freezers, air conditioning units, colour television sets, microwave ovens and so on.
In four draws which held in Lagos, Aba, Ibadan and Kaduna recently, Nze Chinedu Charles with entry ticket no.39492 won the star prize of an all expenses paid trip to the Olympics under the Lagos Zone. He was joined by Aniekwe Wilfred Uchechukwu, ticket no. 15360 - (Aba), Eastern Zone; Akande Amos Remi, ticket no. 4590 - (Kaduna), Nothern Zone.
All four Star Prize Winners will be joined by their spouses on the trip to Athens. The rest of the 15-man team will be made up of some distributors of the company who emerged through a specialized distribution channel Promo. Dunlop Plc personnel who have a caretaker mandate for the team will make up the numbers. Lufthansa Airlines, easily the world's leading passenger airliner and which entered into a strategic alliance with Dunlop Plc on the Promo, will airlift the Dunlop Olympians to and from Athens
