Ebonyi Appoints 16 General Managers From Chinedu Eze in Abakaliki The Acting Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr Chigozie Ogbu, has said that indiscipline and lack of transparency have permanently thwarted the efforts of Ebonyi State Government to revitalize some companies in the state. Dr. Ogbu made the remark while inaugurating sixteen newly appointed General Managers for government parastatals in Abakaliki. The Acting Governor lamented that the bane of the enterprises were insipient crisis and indiscipline, including poor attitude to work, stressing that all these have negatively affected developmental programmes of the state government. He reminded the General Managers that government's position is that all government companies must be run as profitable enterprises, and should be self-sustaining. Dr. Ogbu urged the new general manager to evolve activities that will support effective utilization of human and material resources for promoting productivity, efficiency, accoun-tability and transparency. The Acting Governor assured that government would not interfere unnecessarily in the management of the companies but warned that government would not tolerate inefficiency and indiscipline and therefore any General Manager found wanting in the discharge of his or her responsibilities would be shown the way out. The General Managers are: Aja Enyi, Building Material Industries; Brown Ogba, Housing Development Authority; Dan Ibiam, Library Board; Jonathan Aliede, Newspapers and Publishing Company; Princewill Oke, Rural Electrification and Victor Iduma, Cable Television.
