NLC Seeks End to Youth Restiveness in N/Delta From Okon Bassey in Port Harcourt Leadership of Nigeria Labo-ur Congress (NLC) in the oil -producing states of the Niger Delta region has lobbied the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to be included or joined in a collaborative effort to check youth restiveness and the monitoring of the commission projects. The chairman of the Akwa-lbom state chapter of NLC, Comrade Udo kerian Akpan, made the request while leading a delegation of his colleagues from other NDDC member states to the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt just as the General Officer Commanding the 82 Division of the Nigeria Army, Major-General Rafus Adesina, pledged to provide the commission the necessary protection to carry out its assignment in the region. Akpan said labour has tentacles in all parts of the Niger Delta to check youth restiveness in the region as well as willing to assist the commission to monitor its projects with a view to ensuring that they are executed to specifications and report sharp practices by contractors to the management. "We have structures at the grassroots, which we can use to enlighten the youths and even the elders to eschew restiveness and allow peace to reign in our regions," he stressed. He added that the congress was impressed by the able and systematic way the commission was bringing development to all parts of the Niger Delta region.
