2007: Group Drums Support for IBB in Niger Delta From John Iwori in Yenagoa As campaign ahead of the 2007 presidential elections gather momentum across the country, a group called IBB Vision 2007 has intensified support for one of the presidential hopefuls, former military ruler, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) in the oil and gas rich Niger Delta region. The Bayelsa State Chairman of IBB Vision 2007, Hon. Sunny Joseph Soroh, told THISDAY in an interview in Yenagoa at the weekend that the antecedents of the ex-military ruler stood him out of all the people jostling to succeed President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2007. Enumerating the laudable achievements of IBB in the Niger Delta region which include the establishment of the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commi-ssion (OMPADEC) and creation of states, Soroh contended that the former military officer has what it takes to take Nigeria to the promise land. He enjoined the people of the region to be mindful of those who come in what he called: "sugar coated mouths" to make long promises that will never see the light of the day.
