'We Can Turn Brain Drain Into Blessing' The brain drain phenomenon, which has resulted in thousands of highly skilled Nigerian professional leaving the country for better and more fulfiling jobs abroad, can be turned into a blessing for promoting national development. Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made this observation yesterday when he paid an inspection visit to the General Hospital and the Island Maternity Hospital where 40 visiting Nigerian and foreign doctors based in America have been offering free medical services to Nigerians. Obviously impressed by the dedication and sacrifice of the visiting medical team, which includes surgeons, gynaecologists ophthalmologist and pediatrician, Tinubu said the skills, experience and contacts they had acquired abroad was being positively utilised for the good of the country. His words: "This is a worthwhile and laudable initiative. These are patriotic and highly skilled Nigerian medical personnel practicing in the United States who have now come back home with their skills, drugs, equipment and even some of their American colleagues to offer free medical services to the poor."
