Sheraton Gives N1.4m To UNICEF
SHERATON Lagos Hotel and Towers has presented a cheque of N1.4 million to the United Nations Information and Children Education Fund (UNICEF) as part of its contributions towards immunisation of children against the measles and polio.
The donation, according to the hotel's general manager, Alexander Gassaver, was in fulfilment of the organisations annual contribution to the activities of the UNICEF, especially the fund's immunisation programme.
While making the presentation to the representative of UNICEF at the week end, Gassaver said the money was raised from the hotel's guests who voluntarily contributed to the on going efforts of eradicating deadly diseases and to save children from untimely death.
He noted that although not less than $250,000 was required to fight measles in Gabon, where the immunsation of children by UNICEF was shifted to this year, the Sheraton Hotels was only able to raise and contribute N1.4 million.
Speaking at the occasion, the UNICEF representative in charge of mobilisation, Mrs Caroline Akosile, praised the Sheraton management for its concern and yearly contribution towards ensuring the success of UNICEF.
