IBB ’ll surely vie for presidency —Shagaya

OKEY ONWUCHEKWA, Yenagoa

GENERAL Ibrahim Babangida will certainly vie for the presidency in 2007, a key confidant of the former military president, Brig. General John Nanzip Shagaya, said.

Brig Gen. Shagagya, the National Co-ordinator of the Democratic Mandate Group for Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), declared emphatically that his boss and former military president would run for president. He gave the assurance at the swearing-in of the Bayelsa State chapter of DMG executive members at Women’s Affairs Centre, Yenagoa.

As he spoke, the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) extended its searchlight on its members hobnobbing with the IBB group in Bayelsa State.

Shagaya said the presidential ambition had recovered tremendous progress as evident with the inauguration of the DMG executives from one state to the other.

He said that their principal would from time to time pay surprise visits to the political platform throughout other federation.

He said that there would be a youth jamboree to ignite the political aspiration of the former military president often called Maradona because of his crafitiness in handling political issues.

Earlier, the Bayelsa State co-ordinator, DMG for IBB 2007, Chief Wilberforce Igiri expressed joy that he was able to harmonise the various pro- IBB groups in the state.

The Shagaya-led National group had on April 15, 2004 in Yenagoa harmonised the various groups rooting for the ex-military president thus preparing the way for the inauguration of the expanded executive members.

Chief Igiri singled out Chief J.D. Oboku for giving out his guest house free of charge to serve as the group’s secretariat in Bayelsa State.

He was confident of IBB’s triumph come 2007 based on the tremendous support, the claimed that the retired general was receiving across the country.

Key officers of the DMG for IBB 2007 in Bayelsa State who were sworn-in included Mr. Figili Monovie (State secretary), Chief Simon Ambakederemo (Pubic Relations Officer), Mrs. Mother Tamuno (Women Leader),. Mr. David Boro (Special Adviser) and Mr. Christopher Ovuru (Legal Adviser).
