The two policemen and a police woman, according to the command's boss, Alhaji Hafiz Ringim, loaned a police uniform and identification card to a man who used the items to extort money from the public. The suspect was then apprehended by the police. Ringim said that "the suspect confessed in an interrogation that the three dismissed police members were directly behind the provision of both the identify card and the uniform." There was no case of robbery linked to the suspect "but a case of extortion, impersonation and unauthorised usage of police identity card was established against him," he said. The commissioner stressed the commitment of the command "to flush out bad eggs from the system. "We are committed to having a reputable police force free from such characters," he added. Ringim then urged the public "to report any questionable activities of any policeman to the authorities. Anyone found with an established case against him will not be spared." "We appeal to the people to report suspicious characters and movements in the society to the police.
