2007: IBB Tells Critics to Shut Up From Agaju Madugba in Kaduna Former military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd),has asked his critics to shut up. Prominent Nigerians including Professor Wole Soyinka, Professor Tam David West as well as His Eminence, Sunday Mbang, have in recent times decried Babangida's presidential aspiration and demanded explanation for the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. Reacting yesterday at Funtua, Katsina State, Babangida told newsmen in an interview that he had talked so much about June 12 and there was virtually nothing else to say concerning the issue. Babangida was at Funtua on a condolence visit to Alhaji Wada Nas who lost his wife last week. According to Babangida, people have the right to express their opinions in a democracy, noting however that "none of them (his critics) is God". His words: "I think I have talked so much about June 12. So, Soyinka should spare me the ordeal of going over it again. And, there are a lot more important things to talk about than to bother about Tam David West. "Mbang is a man of God and I am also a believer in God. So, if he is God, he can do whatever he likes."
