Monarch Donates to Flood Victims From Abel Orih in Yola The Lamido Adamawa, Alhaji Aliyu Mustapha, has donated N100,000 and 10 bags of rice and maize to victims of the recent Loko flood disaster in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State. Presenting the donation to chairman of the council, Dr. Mustapha Saidu, on behalf of the Lamido, the Galadima Adamawa, Alhaji Murtala Aminu, sympathised with the victims and described the incident as an act of God. The Lamido, who prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives during the flood, also appealed to people of the area to move to Sabon Loko, where they were earlier relocated to about 15 years ago, to avoid future occurrence. Receiving the donation on behalf of the victims, Saidu, thanked the Lamido for the gesture, and assured judicious distribution of the commodities to the victim. Last Monday, over 40 lives were lost to a fast moving flood, as a result of the obstinacy of the people of Loko Village to move away from the old settlement to their new settlement, Sabon Loko, in Song Local Government area. THISDAY investigations revealed that the flood followed a torrential downpour of rain on Dumne hills, taking the people by surprise and submerging the whole village. Those who could make it found themselves on trees and root tops so many animals and other valuable property were carted away.
