2005 Hajj:Adamawa Begins Enlightenment From Abel Orih in Yola Officials of the Adamawa State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board have commenced tours of the state to enlighten the public on the 2005 Hajj operations. The team's first port of call were Song, Girei and Gombi local government areas where they interacted with members of the public and the councils with a view to educating them over necessary issues before the next Hajj. Speaking shortly after a tour of the three local government areas, the board Chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, explained that the campaign was aimed at soliciting support of local governments for the successful conduct of the Hajj. As part of efforts to ensure a hitch-free exercise, he said, the Board has entered into agreement with landlords in Saudi Arabia, to secure befitting accommodation. He said to get the houses reserved for the state, the Board requires about N35 million for initial payment, stressing that if the arrangement comes through, the next batch of pilgrims would not experience accommodation problem. Abubakar also disclosed that the Federal Government hasallocated 1,967 seats to Adamawa, while Kabo Airline and IRS Trans-Air International have been given the airlift rights for 2005 Hajj. Earlier in their separate responses, both chairmen of Gombi and Song local government councils assured the Board of their support, to make the Hajj operations a success.
