Duke Commends Institute for Support From Amby Uneze in Calabar Cross River State Goevrnment has commend the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors (NIS) for supporting his administration in its developmental efforts, thereby amking the state a pace-setter in the use of orthophoto mapping in the country. Governor Donald Duke, amde the commendation when he received members of the Institute, led by its Cross River State branch chairman, Dien A. Aniom, adding that though the mapping exercise had received initail criticism from those who were not well-informed about it because of the technology involved, m any states have now adopted it. Duke noted that the Institute had lebt support to the state government through advice and guidance,adding that the orthmapping has taken care of street mapping throughout the state, as well as the building of the proposed cable car at the Obudu Ranch Resort and the designing of the entire services at the Tinapa Project. This, according to him, has put the state in good light before international contracting firms, as well as put to rest issues that led to border dispute.
