Why CRUTECH Was Established, By Duke From Amby Uneze in Calabar Governor of Cross River State, Mr Donald Duke, has said the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) was established to provide quality education for its people in areas lacking adequate manpower. Duke also said the state is strongly committed to ensure the take-off of a state college of Medical Sciences for its multi-compus CRUTECH which is gulping about N723 million. Stating this as the visitor to the state University during the joint convocation for the three institutions merged to give birth to CRUTECH, the Governor noted that it was the determination of the government to set a standard for the country in terms of excellency. The three institutions were the Polytechnic Calabar; College of Education (COE), Akamkpa and IBB College of Agriculture, Obubra. Convocations for these institution had been delayed for 10 years.
