Gombe Declares War on Criminals From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe Gombe State High Powered Security Committee has vowed to deal with criminals in Gombe metropolis and its environs. The chairman of the committee and the deputy governor John Yonyo, while addressing the press in Gombe, said government constituted the seven-member committee to tackle cases of armed robbery and house-breaking. According to him, frequent robbery and house breaking in the last two months posed security threats which must be addressed. He said henceforth, there would be police patrol as from 12 midnight to six o'clock in the morning and citizens are advised to remain indoors said Yonyo. "You are expected to be at your homes from 12 midnight unless you have a genuine case or you are going for medication, there is no reason you should be outside" Yonyo appealed for cooperation in dealing with criminals in society. Other members of the security committee are the Director, State Security Service (SSS), the commandant, 387 Artillery Briged, Deputy Commissioner of Police, security Adviser, Commissioner for Justice and Permanent secretary Cabinet who will serve as the secretary. The terms of reference of the committee was to ensure that criminality in the state is either completely eradicated or brought to the bearest minimum. It would be recalled armed robbery and house breaking in Gombe recently rose to an alarming proportion.
