2007 not for the South –Borno dep gov The deputy governor of Borno State, Alhaji Adamu Dibal, has thrown his weight behind moves to zone the presidency to the North in 2007, saying the southern part of the country have had their turn. Alhaji Dibal who just returned from the lesser Hajj in holy land told Daily Trust in Lagos yesterday. According to the Borno deputy governor, it does not matter where the President may come from in the North. It could be Sokoto, Niger, Kwara or anywhere provided it is from the North. On whether he supports agitation for a consensus candidate from the North for the 2007 presidential elections, Alhaji Dibal who expressed optimism that the candidate will come from the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), however stated that the most important thing is for the president to emerge from the North in 2007. He explained further that it does not matter under which party the president will be elected, but was mainly concerned that the presidency moves to the North. “As it is now, the country has been divided into two zones. That is North and South zones. Therefore, if the president has come from the south for eight years, it is undebatable that it is the turn of the North to produce the next president in 2007,” he said.
