Abia PDP Chairman Removed From Chuks Okocha in Abuja National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday approved the removal from office of the Abia State Chapter Chairman of the party, Chief Uzodimma Okpara. The party however denied reports that Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, was undergoing trial. In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Venatisu Ikem, the party said Okpara was removed for anti party activities. According to the statement, "the Abia State Executive of the party remains in place and hereby directed to meet within 30 days from the date of this announcement to appoint a replacement from the appropriate zone and present to the NWC and fill other vacant positions in the State Executive committee, in particular the State Secretary." The party said a committee has been constituted to look into other acts of misdemeanor that unfolded in the process of investigating the allegations of misconduct by the National Disciplinary committee against okpara with a view to resolving all allegations of anti party activities against some members of the party. The statement said that the party expressed its displeasure against members who purported to have installed a new chairman without due process.
