I Didn't Loot LG Funds - Goje From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe Governor Danjuma Goje of Gombe State yesterday said he was not one of the governors looting the local government funds. Goje one of the three governors who received award during the zonal summit of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (North East) in Gombe, said the local government chairmen and himself have been operating the joint accounts transparently and in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations. According to him, the current national bashing of governors and local government officials regarding the local government joint accounts does not apply to the state. Said Goje "The current national bashing of governors and local government's officials regarding the local government joint accounts does not apply to Gombe State at all. We operate our joint account transparently and in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations." The governor challenged anybody or group of persons to come to the state and find out how the joint account is being operated. Goje went on: "and I invite anybody that is interested to come and inspect our books, to come and find out what we do with our money. To access the performance of our local government, to see whether or not this general notion that governors loot the joint account is true or not in Gombe State." He explained that as a result of the joint account, local government councils in the state are now building general hospitals, asphalt tarred roads, boreholes and undertaking of rural electrification. Goje also condemned media war against his government sponsored by the officials of the Abubakar Hashidu administration and urged the faceless writers to come out in their colours if they are sure of their facts.
