Duke Reactivates Essential Drugs Programme From Amby Uneze in Calabar In order to boost the health care programme of Cross River State, Governor Donald Duke has commissioned the reactivated Cross River State Essential Drugs Programme (CRSEDF) with a charge to provide qualitative but affordable medicines to the people of the state. Commissioning the project, Duke regretted that the establishment set up in 1988 could not function as expected due to diversion of funds meant for medicines procurement being utilised for administrative purposes. He disclosed that it was as a result of streamlining the loopholes that government went into partnership with the Worldwide Healthcare Limited, an indigenous pharmaceutical company to partner with the state in the provision of essential medicines to the people at a more efficient, profitable but affordable price to the people. The governor maintained that government has in line with the partnership agreement made funds available to the CRSEDP. He added that after making available the needed funds, the programme will become self-sustaining and be operated at a profit.
