Fresh Crisis Rocks Edo PDP From Omon-Julius Onabu in Benin-City A fresh wave of leadership tussle is threatening to tear apart the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State as diverse re-alignment towards 2007 is creating ripples among politicians in the state. The latest crisis involves claims being made to the position of secretary in the State Executive Committee of the party by two members of the party from Edo South Senatorial District, which currently enjoy the right to the position under the PDP zoning practice. The Edo South Senatorial District of the party about a forth-night ago announced the appointment of Mr Presley Ediagbonya, a former Deputy Chief of staff under the Igbinedion administration as the new state secretary. The statement re-affirmed the earlier stand of the district that Mr Bayo Ogbomo had been removed and indeed expelled from the party over alleged anti-party activities. However, in a letter dated August 10, the national secretary noted that the declaration of Ediagbonya as the secretary could not stand because the process for the expulsion of Ogbomo was not conducted in line with the guidelines laid down by the party. The letter was addressed to the State Chairman, Prince Solomon Aguele, and copied to Governor Lucky Igbinedion, PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih and Dr Samuel Ogbemudia.
