Ondo CJ Flays Indiscipline in Bar Ondo From Funso Muraina in Akure Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Gladys Olateru-Olagbegi, has berated the indiscipline and unprofessional behaviour of some members of the legal profession and called for a collective will to stem the tide. Justice Olateru-Olagbegi who made the remark at a dinner organised by the Akure branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, in a message delivered on her behalf by Justice O. Komolafe, noted that the aura, for which the legal profession was known was fast eroding. "That is why I believe the move to register legal practitioners in the country by the NBA is a welcome development. This will go a long way to eliminate the practice whereby quacks practice in the courts of this great nation, upon which countries in Africa look up to for leadership." She expressed worries over the dwindling level of discipline which, according to her, is giving the profession a bad image. Meanwhile, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), has charged lawyers to ensure that the rule of law thrives in whichever capacity they are engaged as professionals. In a dinner lecture delivered on his behalf by Mr Seeni Okunloye (SAN), the legal luminary said lawyers should not do anything that impedes operation of the doctrine. Babalola noted that the society looks up to lawyers when seeking justice and it would be demoralising to perform below expectations. He enjoined lawyers to allow their legal training guide them while advising political office holders from time to time.
