Monarch Seeks Interdependence of Legislature

Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Suleiman Adamu has stressed the need for the interdependence of the legislature for the growth and development of a lasting and enduring democracy in the country.
Adamu, who is the Chairman of the State Traditional Council made the remark when Senate President, Chief Adolphus Wabara and other members of the National Assembly paid him a courtesy visit in his palace.
The Emir, who commended members of the National Assembly for their commitment towards ensuring a sustainable, durable and enduring democracy in the country also praised them for choosing Bauchi State as venue for the 2004 Retreat for members of the House of Representatives.
He also described the retreat as an opportunity for tackling some of the problems bedeviling the country, especially the issue of security across the country, adding that they should also deliberate on pragmatic solutions to the issue of poverty being faced by the citizenry.
He therefore, prayed to God to assist the members towards the successful conduct of the exercise, and reminded them to represent their various constituencies well so as to ensure even distribution of the dividends of the nation's democracy.
Earlier on, Wabara had said he was in the state to declare open the 2004 Retreat for members of the House of Representatives, and expressed happiness for the improvement in the Emir's ailing health.
While praying to God to grant him (Emir) quick recovery from his illness, the Senate President Commended the Emir's role in the maintenance of peace and harmonious relationships among the various ethno-religious communities residing in Bauchi.
Wabara also described Bauchi as the home of peace and hospitality, and commended the Governor Adamu Mu'azu-led administration for executing programmes and projects that were impacting positively on the lives of the people of the State.
Meanwhile, the Senate President and his entourage have visited the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi where he commended the State Government for the rehabilitation of the Hospital.
He urged the people of the State to rally round the present government to enable them reap the dividends of democracy. He also charged them to continue to live in peace with one another to ensure socio-economic and political development of the State and the country in general.
Those who accompanied the Senate President on the courtesy call and visits to project sites include the State Acting Governor, Alhaji Abdulmalik Mahmoud, Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Speaker of the State House of Assembly and other top government functionaries.
