NRA Elections Shifted for Okpomo, Enemuo By Ayodeji Fashikun The process to have in place a new national executive for the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) has been shifted in honour of two football personalities, Mr. Patrick Okpomo and Innocent Enemuo, who died during the month. Disclosing this at the National Stadium in Lagos at a press chat, chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Ephraim Chukwuemeka said, "We had to honour these two youngmen to be buried before we go ahead with the elections." He revealed that, "the Minister, Colonel Musa Mohammed and the NFA Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima had expressed determination to participate in the electoral process as observers thus, we have to wait until after the Olympic Games when they would have returned to the country." The former Grasshoppers of Owerri handball coach and Director of Sports of Abia State Sports Council added, "elections to the 204 Societies in the nation were undertaken, reviewed and ratified. Likewise the elections into the 36 Councils except Ekiti State where there is an injunction since last year instituted by Mr. Ayo Omodara." On the candidates for election, "A deadline of July 30th was set for filing of nomination. 20 aspirants have filled their forms for the 14 positions." Two Presidential aspirants are due to contest. They are Dr. Sam Sam Jaja of Rivers State and Chief Abel Ehigie of Edo State while Barrister Ray Nnaji did not meet the guidelines for the elections.
