AJ Silicon, EDP Commence IT Training for Accountants
It was an atmosphere of enthusiasm Saturday at the ICAN designated training centers, AJ Silicon and EDP, when chartered accountants started the Chartered Accountants Certificate in Information Technology Practice (CACITP) programme.
The programme is part of the Technology Competence Initiative (TCI) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
The Managing Director, AJ Silicon, Mr. Razaq Jaiyeola who listed the many benefits of the programme for chartered accountants also hopes that more participants would make use of the opportunity offered by the programme moreso since registration is still in progress.
But for those who registered last weekend, it was for them an opportunity to be at tune with modern requirements of the profession. For many in the accounting profession, it has been a challenge to learn the new tools of the trade. The CATIP offers an opportunity to overcome that challenge.
With the two designated centers embarking on the training simultaneously, the objectives of CATIP is expected to be fulfilled.
The designated training centers for the training are EDP and AJ Silicon. AJ Silicon's Centre is at Rola International School, Abiola Gardens, Ikeja while EDP center is at River Valley Estate on Limson Road, Ojodu Berger.
ICAN stated while engaging in the project that the environment in which chartered accountants operate has changed significantly from what it used to be with the impact of technology.
Technology, according to ICAN, has made possible many things that were not possible in the past. What's more, businesses and governments have embraced these changes in ways that have innovated management processes but made complex the task of the chartered accountant. "Now, if we must continue to fulfill our fiduciary obligation to society, we must keep abreast with these changes and technologies," ICAN said concerning its rationale.
Chartered Accountants Certificate in Information Technology Practice is a designation programme for chartered accountants involved in or yet to be involved in the provision to their clients IT services like IT strategic planning; IT advisory services, IT development implementation, management; Auditing & Assurance; and Information engineering.
