HP Introduces Several New Products
By Okechkwu Kanu

Several new products from the HP stable have hit the Nigerian market. Some of such products presented recently to the media at the HP offices in Lagos include digital cameras and printers.

The HP Photosmart R707 digital camera with 5.1 MP resolution and 24x zoom is entering the market with features peculiar to it alone. The features are the HP adaptive lighting, its in-camera red-eye removal, the panorama mode feature and the HP image advice.

The HP Photosmart R707 now solves the problem associated with contrasting lighting. Where there is poor contrast in the lighting, its adaptive lighting feature balances the lighting so that the details of the shoot are enhanced. The result is pictures that are more true-to-life. The HP Photosmart R707 camera is also the first able to remove from within the camera process itself, the red eye syndrome caused by flashlights of cameras. The technology is such that the removal of the red eye colouring does not affect any other red colour in the photo. On this camera several shoots that cover a range, say of the whole of one side of a football stadium, can be merged by the camera such that it gives one full picture with a panorama view. Then there is the HP image advice which analysis the taken picture and suggests ideas on how a better picture can be taken on the next shoot.

HP also introduced the latest edition of its all-in-one range - the HP PSC 1315. This product is an affordably-priced integrated printer, flatbed scanner and copier in one. It has an optional 6-ink colour technology that guarantees sharp, clear images. Photos can be printed on the HP PSC 1315 without connecting to a PC and the printer prints and copies at 17 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 12 ppm in colour. One-touch buttons also ensure that scanning and copying really is quick and simple, and copies can be made even when the computer is turned off.

Other HP products introduced include the HP Deskjet 5743 Colour Inkjet Printer, the HP Deskjet 6543 Colour Inkjet Printer and the HP PSC 1215 all-in-one.

The HP Deskjet 5743 Colour Inkjet Printer is a compact, robust and competitively priced inkjet printer offering high productivity printing and easy operation via front panel controls. It has print speeds of up to 23 pages per minute in laser-quality black and up to 18 pages per minute in colour.

The New HP Deskjet 6543 Colour Inkjet Printer is a 30-page per minute printer with designed for high productivity environments.

While the ultra-compact HP PSC 1215 is an easy to use all-in-one ideal for the home user.

According to HP representative, Cherif El Azzaoui, the company has now adopted a product life cycle process of about 10 to 11 months before such products are replaced with newer models. Hp will be introducing 28 new products from October, he said.

HP printers, inks and print media - are designed to work together and deliver outstanding results. The new HP products have a one-year limited guaranty cover on them.
