Liberty Bank Appoints Acting CEO Banking The Board of Directors of Liberty Bank Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Lawson Omokhodion as its Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer with effect from Tuesday, August 17, 2004. Until his appointment, Omokhodion was the Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of the bank. Omokhodion has over 27 years working experience in various sectors of the Nigerian economy. He started his working career in 1977 with the Centre for Management Development, Lagos as a management Trainee. In 1985 he joined Newswatch Communications Limited as the Business Editor, later to This Week magazine and then to Pan African Bank limited, AVC Fund limited and African Development Bank, Abidjan before returning to Allstates Trust Bank in 1996. He later became an Executive Director and member of the Board of Director of Allstates Trust Bank. As a financial journalist, Omokhodion was very articulate member of the board in which he serves. Omokhodion holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication (2nd Class Upper division) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria as well as a Master of Business Administration degree in Financial Management from Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona. He joined Liberty Bank Plc in November, 2003 to lead a team of professionals to restructure the bank and restore it to the path of sustainable profitability. Since joining the bank, he has piloted the bank to a state of respectability. Under his leadership, the CBN gave the bank its full autonomy to operate. He introduced a new management structure in the bank, attracted experienced and talented bankers of repute as staff of Liberty Bank, energized debt recovery activities, pruned down operating cost and has put Liberty Bank on a profitable path.
