The Police Task Force on Oil Pipeline Vandalisation
has arrested a group of six suspected pipeline vandals at Robert Village, a
Lagos suburb.
Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command,
Emma Ighodalo, a Superintendent of Police, named the arrested persons on
Tuesday as Victor Robert, Sunday Ebodofo, Afolabi Bazuaye, Jossy Ehimola, Felix
Coker and Front Bak. They are aged between 22 and 49 years.
According to Ighodalo, the task force received a tip
off that the group was meeting near the village, preparatory to the operation.
The task force acted swiftly and rounded up the suspects, he said. The police
also recovered from the suspects various items adjudged useful for pipeline
vandalisation.
The recovered items are 4000 jerry-cans loaded with
petroleum products, two 2000 jerry-cans, two portable generators, two outboard
engine beats, one drilling machine, three screw drivers, two hammers, one plug
spanner, one axe, nine pieces of allen keys, four iron files, three chisels and
two punch iron machines and other assorted tools. The arrest of the six
suspects came on the heels of the apprehension of a previous group also
comprising six suspected pipeline vandals by the task force. They were
allegedly operating at Akaraba Village, also in Lagos.
