Obaship Tussle: Daniel Warns Owu Community From Toba Suleiman in Abeokuta Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State yesterday cautioned the People of Owu Community, Abeokuta, especially those involved in the current Obaship tussle, to mind their utterances in order not to further aggravate the issues. Speaking while visiting the Oke Ago- Owu residence of the Otun of Owu,Alhaji Ola Yusuf, which was allegedly vandalised last Sunday, Daniel expressed the need for the chiefs to regard the issue as purely family affair. Apparently referring to an interview granted by Yusuf where he (Yusuf) said Owu Obaship issue was not a family affair, Daniel said: "I read, where you spoke in the newspapers that the crisis is not a family matter, but I am saying this is a family matter and to now aggravate it in the media is not in the best interest of the Owu People". "There should be no press war on the matter and all the issues arising from the crisis should be resolved as Owu matter". Meanwhile, the vaccant stools of Owu community, Abeokuta and Owu Ijebu were among the 24 stools whose Obas were yesterday upgraded to first class categories in the re-constituted Ogun State Council of Traditional Rulers. In the reconstituted council, inaugurated yesterday by Governor Gbenga Daniel, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Oyebade Lipede was named the chairman to run theaffairs of the Obas till 2005. While performing the ceremony at the Vally View Hall, Government House, Oke-Igbehin, Abeokuta, Daniel also announced Government's intention to construct a modern Traditional Rulers Complex within the premises of the State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta. "When Completed, the complex will provide a permanent place where Obas will meet, interact and rub minds on issues affecting the State and Nigeria in general", he said.
