Peace, Tool for Dev, Says Youth Leader
By Yemi Akinsuyi

A youth leader, Prince Niyi Omoleye, President of Nigeria Youth Association (NYA), has told Nigerians that peace is the essential panacea towards development.

Omoyele, who made this known at seminar organised by NYA titled: "Peace, A Necessary Tool for National Development," said national development of any kind could only be achieved, where there is absolute peace.

In his words: "It is obvious in this regard that peace is an indispensable tool for national development. For example, for any family to move forward, peace is vital, even communities, towns, villages and of course, Nigeria and indeed, African nations need peace.

"Nigeria is endowed with human and material resources that are needed for a society to foster, compared with any other nation in the world. Our beloved country needs peace than any other nations, we want to grow and develop in all human endeavours."

The youth president therefore called on all leaders of various groups and organisations to teach their followers the way of peace, rather than inciting them against each other at the expense of the

nation's peaceful co-existence.

"We must embrace peace and allow development to be strongly rooted in every strata of our society. We therefore appeal to all religious leaders in this country to teach their faithful followers the importance of peace, for us to build new Nigeria of our collective dreams," he added.

"Also, our political leaders should embrace peace in their day-to-day activities and should not engage in verbal warfare. They should guide their utterances and not to incite the masses to civil disobedience. In the same vein, we urge all the youths of this great country to embrace peace and shun violence," he urged.
